Heike Kati Barath, geboren 1966 in Vaihingen an der Enz, ist eine deutsche Malerin, bekannt für ihre großformatigen, farbintensiven Werke, die oft Porträts und fiktive Gegenstände darstellen. Sie studierte von 1990 bis 1991 an der Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Gent und setzte ihr Studium von 1992 bis 1998 an der Kunstakademie Münster fort, wo sie 1998 ihr Diplom und den Meisterschülerinnenbrief erhielt.
Barath verwendet in ihren Arbeiten neben Öl und Lack auch unkonventionelle Materialien wie Acrylfugendichter und Bauschaum. Ihre Werke befinden sich in bedeutenden Sammlungen, darunter die Sammlung Falckenberg in Hamburg und die Sammlung Goetz in München.
Seit 2016 ist sie Professorin für Figurative Malerei an der Hochschule für Künste Bremen. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Berlin.
Heike Kati Barath, born in 1966 in Vaihingen an der Enz, is a German painter known for her large-format, intensely coloured works, which often depict portraits and fictional objects. She studied at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Ghent from 1990 to 1991 and continued her studies at the Kunstakademie Münster from 1992 to 1998, where she received her diploma and master student certificate in 1998.
In addition to oil and lacquer, Barath also uses unconventional materials such as acrylic joint sealant and construction foam in her works. Her works can be found in important collections, including the Falckenberg Collection in Hamburg and the Goetz Collection in Munich.
She has been Professor of Figurative Painting at the University of the Arts Bremen since 2016. She lives and works in Berlin.
